Passive Voice - Chapter 15

When she arrived at Chu Zhihan’s house, Lu Yao realized that the large mansion was empty.
“Where are aunt and uncle?” Lu Yao reached out to hitch a ride on the shoe cabinet, but found that there was a surprisingly thick layer of ash on it.
“Mom passed away a few years ago, so dad went to Australia to live with his brother and the others. I don’t come back much either, so the mansion has been shuttered empty.”
“I’m so sorry.” Lu Yao was a little flustered on top of being surprised. Every time Chu Zhi Han came back, he would go to see his mother. But he actually knew nothing about the change in Chu Zhihan’s family.
“What’s there to apologize for.” Chu Zhi Han opened the door to the study, “It’s been so many years.”
For so many years, Chu Zhi Han had always been alone, right? And never heard him mention having someone to date. Not to mention any other friends.
Chu Zhi Han was like a satellite revolving around him. But he knows nothing about the atmosphere, water and soil on that satellite.
When he went into the study, he found that Chu Zhihan’s battle situation here was even worse than on his side. The floor was filled with all sorts of drawings and information. There were even all sorts of strange drawing tools spread across the table. The dense graphic images on the computer screen were all unintelligible to him. There was also half-drunk coffee and uneaten bread on the table.
“I’ve been doing this for the past few days, I didn’t even have time to clean up, I’ve made you laugh.” Chu Zhi Han packed out a space for Lu Yao to sit, “Let’s get started.”
Lu Yao is also a fastidious person, took off her jacket and took the information to talk to Chu Zhi Han in detail. Chu Zhi Han is a meticulous and thoughtful person, with a high demand for details. And this list also seems to be very important, it seems to be a hospital project invested by the German side, so the requirements are particularly complex and profound. Chu Zhi Han asked while doing her work on the computer, her seriousness made Lu Yao also driven to devote herself to her work.
By the time Lu Yao’s mom called, it was already 7pm. Lu Yao looked at the man working seriously in the study and thought that if she left, he would have to work alone all night. While he was at home eating a hot New Year’s Eve dinner. It felt a bit unkind no matter how I thought about it.
So Lu Yao apologized and told his mom that he wouldn’t be able to make it back for dinner, but his mom was very understanding and told him to work hard, and said that she had left dishes at home for him and Chu Zhi Han, so that they could go back and eat after they finished their work.
How do I know that when I really finished all of them, it was already midnight.
Outside was the deafening sound of firecrackers. The New Year had arrived.
“Happy New Year.”
“Happy New Year.”
After the two of them exchanged happy new year greetings, the atmosphere was suddenly a bit cold.
Only after half a day did Lu Yao open up and say let’s go out for dinner. Chu Zhi Han nodded in agreement. He took his wallet and keys and went out the door.
Although the streets were very busy in the early hours of the new year, the only food service that was still open was KFC.
Two people ordered hamburgers and picked a place near the window to sit down. There were only three or two single customers in the large store. It was a bit strange for two big men to sit there and eat without saying a word. But there were not many people to notice.
Outside the window was a bustling scene. Everywhere there were couples and children setting off all kinds of fireworks. Colorful colorful colorful. There were many different styles. There were fire trees and silver flowers and ants on trees. Under the firelight, the faces of the people are all the color of happiness.
But happiness is also someone else’s happiness.
After finishing his hamburger. It was only then that Lu Yao remembered that at this time of the day, I’m afraid there are no cars that can go back to the suburbs. He was embarrassed to ask Chu Zhihan to send him back. Borrowing at Chu Zhi Han’s house is always a little ……
So messy thinking. The expression on his face is also messy screwed up.
“Thinking about what?”
“Ah nothing, I’m looking at that fireworks, it’s very pretty.”
Chu Zhi Han laughed silently. It was as if he was mocking his childish nature.
Lu Yao was about to retaliate. But the boss selling fireworks next to him came up and asked, “Do you want to buy fireworks?”
Lu Yao was thinking that this old man really doesn’t know how to read people. What kind of fireworks are two big men setting off? However, the old man was freezing and cowering in fear, but he was a little bit too kindhearted to do anything about it.
He was about to take out his wallet when Chu Zhihan took the fireworks from the old man’s hand, “We’ll take them all.”
Originally, two big men set off fireworks is really a bit strange. But having bought almost 200 dollars worth of dog tails, if you don’t set them off, putting them in your home would be like a small explosive pile. It would be more disturbing, right?
Quietly picking a place where no one was around, the two men sat side by side and started lighting them one by one.
The firelight was certainly warm. The way it jumped around was also exciting.
But I didn’t know what to say at a time like this.
So just sat there lighting fireworks one by one.
“Thank you.”
Chu Zhi Han opened her mouth without context. Lu Yao didn’t know what to say. Being polite on an occasion like this felt hypocritical no matter what.
“Luckily you were there. The work was able to be completed in its entirety. I really thank you.”
“And thank you for spending New Year’s Eve with me. It’s been a long time since anyone spent New Year’s Eve with me.”
Lu Yao looked at Chu Zhi Han’s hazy side face with half-lidded eyelids in the firelight. Listening to his sincere thanks. Suddenly there was a bit of a strange impulse.
It was the kind …… of impulse that wanted to embrace this man in front of him.
This man who had borne the loneliness alone, but had never been stingy in giving him encouragement and warmth.
Chu Zhihan looked at the fireworks in his hand and slowly said, “After mom left, dad also moved to live with his brother. Although every year will call back …… huh, but the feeling of having someone around is really going to come better …… with you, really not so empty. Also very energetic like.”
Realizing that Lu Yao beside him silently didn’t say anything, Chu Zhi Han opened her mouth a bit hurriedly, “I’m sorry, I don’t have that kind of meaning …… I just ……”
Before the words fell, he was hugged by the man beside him.
