The Blind and the Deaf - Chapter 1

Xiao Zhang is a blind masseur in this small town. He is only twenty years old and has just graduated from technical school. Most of his blind colleagues are only partially sighted, but Zhang is not so lucky. His eyesight declined when he was four years old, and now he is completely blind. He is trapped in darkness every day, serving his customers with his hands and his strength. Everyone says that Zhang’s skills are authentic and that he gets repeat customers.
Zhang has always been mindful of Mr. Li’s teaching in the technical school, to be happy with what he has, and to be a happy person. It is impossible to say that he has never complained about God’s injustice. He couldn’t see much since he was four years old, and now he can’t even remember what the sky looks like. In the club, there are colleagues who complain about their lives every day, and when they think of their eyes getting worse, they get depressed and finally quit their jobs. Zhang has experienced a lot of this kind of thing, so he has been trying to find fun in his work. For example, chatting with customers and listening to them talk about the outside world makes him feel happy. Self-regulation is important.
But now, Xiao Zhang is serving a special guest.
After receiving his name, Xiao Zhang touched the designated room. He heard another person in the room and knocked on the door before entering the room, saying, “Hello.”
The man did not respond, and without caring, Xiao Zhang pushed the cart and touched into the room. Not every guest would take the initiative to say hello, after all, they are here to enjoy the service ah.
“I’m number 86, you can call me Xiao Zhang.” Xiao Zhang introduced himself. Cocking his head, he still didn’t hear a response. He remembered that this guest ordered lumbar spine massage to come, so he touched the bed and didn’t touch anyone.
“Sir?” He said suspiciously, “You come here first and lie face down.”
Someone tapped his hand. He grabbed the hand hesitantly-he felt the other person’s palm dry and thick, and smelled a sweet, tangy odor. Chang smiled, remembering Mr. Meow’s Pastry House next door, and, hauling the owner of that hand onto the bed, said, “You’re a dessert maker, sir?”
The guest still didn’t answer, but cooperated by lying down. Feeling that it was his first time, Chang studied for a moment the questions “which end should I sleep on” and “should I face down?”
Xiao Zhang touched the guest to make sure he was in the right position, then skillfully pressed twice on his waist and asked, “Is this force OK?”
After waiting for a while, Xiao Zhang was sure that this guest didn’t want to talk today. For the first time, he finished helping a guest with massage in silence, with some apprehension in his heart.
