The Diverse World of Jianghu Characters
Jianghu Characters
The characters of the Jianghu are varied, each playing their role, either consciously or unconsciously, willingly or unwillingly.
The Prodigal Son
To outsiders, the prodigal son may seem like someone who does nothing of significance. He is not necessarily someone who has been hurt or broken; in fact, it’s just his natural personality—carefree on the outside but deeply thoughtful within. The prodigal son typically has the following characteristics:
- Family – Though he may appear carefree, what truly tugs at the prodigal son’s heart is his family.
- Friendship – He lives freely, surrounded by a group of loyal friends with whom he shares strong bonds.
- Love – He often falls in love with the wrong person, which leads him to have more romantic entanglements with women.

The Alternative Prodigal Son
There is another type of prodigal son, someone who may genuinely enjoy a carefree life but becomes a prodigal for specific reasons. Whether due to family issues or emotional struggles, these individuals have their own stories. They share these characteristics:
- Family – They may not like to show sadness in front of others, but no matter where they are, their family is always on their mind.
- Friendship – You may see them living freely among a group of friends, but in reality, they rarely find someone who truly understands them.
- Love – Whether it’s because they were once hurt in love, or the person they truly loved is now gone, they no longer give their heart to others. In fact, they may even deliberately avoid other women.

The Swordsman
“Ten years to sharpen a sword” – spending ten years crafting a perfect sword. “The frost blade has never been tested” – the blade is sharp but has yet to be used in battle. It is said that in ancient times, there were people who challenged their fate and the heavens with their swords. They were called Sword Immortals. While this may be a myth, whether in the past or present, Song (the character) has always believed in it, which is why he chose the sword. The sword symbolizes persistence and determination—it is like a monument, a monument of the sword.
What kind of sword is the most terrifying?
Of course, it is the sword of the sword god.
The sword light flashes like a rainbow, bringing with it the cold breath of death.
The Beggar, The Prostitute, The Bandit, The Bodyguard, The Avenger, The Ambitious One, The Carefree Wanderer…
These are just a few examples of the many characters found in the Jianghu. There are heroes and cowards; there are those who uphold justice and those who are despicable; there are those who only care about profit and those who are indifferent to fame and wealth. The Jianghu is like a stage, with supporting roles, lead roles, heroes, and clowns.
In this world, not everyone who enters the Jianghu survives. Some are eliminated early, some wander for a lifetime before retreating into the mountains, some struggle to survive, and some prefer to die with dignity. Some become legends, while others fall into disgrace. The greatest heroes fight for their country and people, while others merely play their part.
The Jianghu is full of stories—some about robbing and killing, others about greed and deception. Is this the Jianghu? Amidst the green mountains and clear waters, with beautiful yet ruthless heroes, decisive killings, and bittersweet emotions—does this represent the Jianghu?
The Jianghu is a world of swords and blood, with treacherous paths and dangerous people, but it is also full of heroism and grandeur. It’s a world where the unexpected happens, where promises are worth their weight in gold, where danger lurks, but the adventure is ever exciting. Anything with two sides—like the poppy flower—has an irresistible allure, just like the Jianghu. This is the charm of the Jianghu: “Though ten thousand people oppose me, I will still go forward.”
